    Hi,
My family and I belive that culture covers the belief, traditions, celebrations, ideas, values, knowledge, manners, art and how you dress.

I am unable to question or respond to another person because nobody else has posted yet so I will come on later and respond.

  2.   daphney Says:

    Hi,
My family and I believe that culture is something that represents where you come from and what kind of group you belong to that makes you differet from others.Cultue is unique.Culture represents belief, traditions, art, language, practices, celebrations, ideas, manners, appearance, how you look, how you dress up,etc.Chinese people can be identified as one because of their looks, how they speak, what they believe in,how they dress etc.Chinese people are known or recognized as chinese people because of their culture.Their culture makes them different from others.

Nina I have a question for you. My question is :
What makes you different from others and why?

  3.   Amelia Says:

    Amelia here
My family and I believe that culture represents were you come from and what you believe in and also what types of groups you belong to.I think everyone is unique in their own way even if they come from the same country. Some other countries are completly different to us but we still respect them.
I think Daphney had a good explanation.

  4.   Anna Says:

    Hi,
In our family we kind of agree to Nina’s family.
We think that Culture means family and being together, and art.
We also think that it means appreciation and Ideas and trying new things.
I think that Daphney’s thing is good because she gives lots of Ideas.
    I also like Amelia’s one

    Bye.

  5.   Francesco Says:

    Hi,
for my family, culture is where you come from ,what you look like ,art and food. we also think that even dance can be part of culture too like in Asia they dress up in all these clothing that are probably to do with their culture and every country has a different dance and they are telling you a story of how they live.

  6.   Ashley Says:

    Hi,

My family thinks culture can be about Religion, beliefs, traditions and where you come from. This can also be special occasions like christmas, easter and anzac day.
I think culture is althe same i wrote above but this can inclued celebrations spending time with friends and family dances the clothing you where and for example the activitys you participate in.
I aggree with every one else whos posted above and the ideas you have given.
Speaking of culture and the blog how you comunicate with each other as well because using an example of the african drumming group that is how they warn people about a danger or just sending a message of some sort is still communication.

    My question is for Annna:
Do you think we are doing any thing related to culture at school and if so what is it?

    Bye

  7.   room18space Says:

Well done to all of our wonderful posters.

There have been some common themes coming through in these entries. I have seen reference to religion, beliefs and traditions, but I wonder if what exactly you mean by these things? What religion, which traditions, which beliefs make something part of someone’s culture?

I raise the question - can one person belong to more than one culture? Give reasons for your answers. Can I create a culture?

  8.   kevin Says:

    Hi everyone

Culture is different races of people who live in diferent life styles. Ih has diffenert ways of expressions, e.g.:
    -language
    -writing/character
    -music,sing,dance and instruments
    -food
    -art, simbols, icon, color
    -cloths
    -buildings
    -law
    -social customs: festivales and color

I have two cultures background: My family comes from China; I was born and is having education in New Zealand.

    Kevin

    My question is for Daphney:
what is the most special culture/thing in your country?

  9.   felixh Says:

    Hi everyone!
I think culture is determined by these things, country, food, religion, beliefs, race, looks, clothes, pasttimes, festivals and a shared history.
For example Australian aborigines live in Aussie, eat bush tucker, believe in spirit gods, have dark skin, black hair. They feel a deep connection to the animals and the land.

A person can belong to more than one culture but sometimes this creates difficulties for them.
I think you can create a culture - both imaginary in games and also a real culture with a family or a community. My martial arts club has beliefs, traditions, rules, uniform, and respect of masters is big.
    Bye

  10.   andrew Says:

Culture is where you come from and the life style you live in for e.g.

    -customs and traditions
    -language
    -religion
    -food
    -cloths
    -and different belives
I come from two backgrounds: I am New Zealand born but my mum is a brazilian and she always is teaching us her culture.

  11.   gilbert Says:

    Hi guys :-)
I think that culture can be different for other people depending on what beliefs and religions you have like believing in god or jesus or something else or
celebrations and the types of food that you eat everyday.

Culture could be as simple as just the timetable of your day or different names for different things.

I also agree with what Andrew says and how different cultures could wear different clothes.
I think that sometimes your culture is depending on where you live and where you come from because if you lived in fiji you might wear or eat different things than someone in Holland or somewhere where its really cold.

Your culture could easily be what you do everyday or the names of the people in your family.

Our families culture is based on the christian holiday system since we celebrate christmas and things like that.
We take turns at having Christmas at each others house and we always get together to celebrate other peoples birthdays.
We have a normal day to day timetable including normal day to day activities like going to school or work. We come home, eat dinner and go to bed and on weekends we have a two day break. Its pretty simple.

    Gilbert :-)

  12.   Alicia Says:

    Hi everyone!
    Alicia here!

    What is culture?
Culture is the full range of learned human behaviour patterns and also that complex whole which includes: knowledge, belief, music, art, law, morals, custom, and any other capabilities and habbits acquired by man as a member of society.

Can one person belong to more than one culture?
Yes. For example: Your Mother can have a different religon customs and cultural beliefs, and traditions and your father can have another, before they get married, either your mother or father can convert into one of their religon, and have the same culture.
ex: A chinese buddhist getting marriied to a catholic kiwi.

    Can I create a culture?
I think, you can’t create a culture within days and weeks. Culture is not about one person but consist of a group of people and there for culture needs to be cultivated and nurtured through time and generation.

I think that Amelia, Daphney and Ashley raised a good point in their explanaition of what they think culture is.

    Bye everyone!

  13.   anneke Says:

Culture is really what you do that means something to you family this can also be special occasions like Christmas, birthdays, Easter, Anzac day, really what you celebrate.
My family thinks culture is mainly your religion, beliefs and traditions. Culture can be about and the activities you do and where you come from can have celebrations spending time with friends and family dances and the clothing you where especially from different country on special day,
I agree with everyone who has posted because it can’t be wrong if they believe in something else,
    Anneke

  14.   Kate Says:

    hello

I think that culture is diffrent depending what you are brought up with and what you believe in you could follow a special tradition that you do with your family or friends, or religion that means that every one celebrates diffrent things like christmas, new year, easter, anzac day, guy falks, birthdays and lots more. Culture could also change the way you dress, eat, and your language.

    kate

  15.   hugo Says:

I think that culture is all about the “way people behave”.
people from different countries do and believe in different things. for example in india they eat hot spicy food but in America they like fatty hamburgers?

Culture is also about believing in different Gods and things liek Christmas , easter.

I have also read somewhere that scientists use a culture to breed germs and things so they can identify what they are.

  16.   Jock Says:

    Jock here,

I think that culture is something about you and I think it is something about your famiy and relations so its all comes together about your community and what people do around you and how they react to things that you do and say.

    Jock

  17.   Anna Says:

This is an answer to Ashley’s question. Yes I think we have done a little bit of culture at school I’m just trying to reamber what now. This is a question for Jock If cultures related to community then what are some other things that go under community? I also like the way how Hugo mentioned about gods and the idea of behavior. I also agree with Alicia with the question she answered can one person belong to more than one culture. I think that her answer was really cool about converting there religions.
    Bye
    Anna :):):):):):)

  18.   hannah year 6 Says:

i think culture is somthing to do with your familys country or where you are from
and i also think it is things about yourself.

maybe following a trodition is culture.

  19.   Amelia Says:

    Hello its Amelia
I am just here to ask some questions.
This is a question for Kevin….what is culture like in China?
This question is for Hugo… why do you think the way people behave has anything to do with culture.
I agree with Alicia’s statment can i create a culture.
I like the way that Felix described what culture was.

    Bye! :)

  20.   gilbert Says:

    This is for Hugo,
Could you please explain more about your statement on culture when you said scientists use a culture to breed things and identify what they are.
I didn’t quite understand what you meant.
    Thanks, Gilbert :-)

  21.   svetlana Says:

  23.   kevin Says:

the main differets of culture between New Zealand are:
-we eat Eastan food, like rice, dumplings, roast duck and etc

-Buddhism is the most popular religion

  25.   Isabella Says:

My family thinks culture is to do with where you come from and where your parents come from. We think it is also to do with your religions and beliefs.
You usually follow your parents traditions because that is what you are brought up learning about.
I am being brought up with Christianity in my life and my parents are Christian so you can see how it works.
I bet that children with Hindu or Muslim parents (just for an example) are brought up learning about the Hindu or Muslim religions and beliefs because of their parents.

Maybe it comes down to it’s how we do things differently in different ways.

    See you soon
    Isabella

  26.   kayla Says:

    hi its kayla here
    cultures are all diffrent things
all cultures have triditional things like russia they go to church and kremlines.
china is way diffrent then new zealand.there are 54 diffrent cultures in china and got diffrent costumes.

    bye see you soon.

  27.   kevin Says:

    Hi,

I believe that probaly you have seen the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic Games. It’s probably better than most people’s expectation; it has many creative ideas and high technology. The ceremonies have introduced some of the Chinese culture the history of Chinese culture has 5,000 years. There are 56 ethics’ they told you about the china’s most important invention –paper making, print, gun powder, and compass, now people have added in silk and china. Most of the performances were Chinese dances, music, panting, writing and art. I am proud of myself because I am from Beijing which is the chosen city to set the Olympic Games.

  28.   ahmed Says:

hi, this is Ahmed. i think that culture is - country, food, religion, beliefs, race, looks, clothes, pastimes, festivals, a shared history and how you act.
In my country, the people look out for each other but there are lots of poor and homeless people there. the poor people may get shelter in mosk where people give food and a place to sleep.

i have a question for Francesco, could you tell us more about your culture.

    Ahmed

  29.   Nina Says:

Dapheny that is a very hard question to anwser.
What Makes your culture different from others and why?
I had a long think about this and I think that our culture is different because we have a mixed culture we have different traditions from different cultures this makes my family different from others that are in a religion because they usually only belive in that for example: Cathloic,Hindu etc.And even rules are part of culture so every family is different.

  30.   harry Says:

    Hi harry here
    I have some questions for Ahmed;
    How could cloths be culture?
    What is your country?
And wound somebody not look out for others ,everybody’s not selfless.
